Valve have announced a great concept, Steam Greenlight. This new service, which is due out at the end of August, allows indie developers to submit their games to be reviewed by the steam community. The most popular games will then be greenlighted to be added to Steam store. So it’s like Steam Workshop for games.
Getting indie games on Steam is nothing new. In the past though, games were reviewed directly by Valve and received just a yea or nay. The sheer volume of submissions made this process grueling for Valve and developers alike. Involving the community allows us steam people to provide valuable feedback and voice what types of games we’d like to see.
So tell your favorite indie developers to submit their games. Valve is accepting concepts, early builds, and complete games. Check out their site at: http://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/ for more information.
