Dishonored is a steam punk-ish, first person, free roaming game where you play Corvo Atano, a bodyguard of the Empress, whose seeking vengeance against the people who framed him for her assassination. Much like Deus Ex and other games of its ilk you have multiple options to complete your missions and can be as lethal or nonlethal as you like. Oh and you have supernatural powers.
This game had me at its retro industrial look. I haven’t played a good Steam Punk game since Arcanum circa 2001. But then they throw in supernatural powers like possessing creatures, teleporting, freezing time, and summoning rats so I’m thoroughly sold. Seriously, look at this screenshot. If you told me “Hey, I made a game where you can throw rats at people”, I’d want to play it.
Arkane Studios, the team developing Dishonored, have worked on some big name games such as Deus Ex, Thief: Deadly Shadows, Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah and Half-Life 2. So, Dishonored has the makings of a great game. It should be hitting the shelves around October of this year.
